Course Overview

The PADI Rescue Diver course is widely regarded as one of the most rewarding — and most important — certifications a diver can earn. It fundamentally changes the way you think underwater, shifting your awareness from yourself to the safety of everyone around you. At PMT, this course is taught by Akhil Jude, an EFR Instructor and experienced dive professional who brings real-world emergency response knowledge to every session. You will leave this course not only as a more capable diver, but as someone any buddy or dive group is fortunate to have in the water.

What You Will Learn

  • Recognising and managing diver stress — both at the surface and underwater

  • Self-rescue techniques and managing panicked divers

  • Emergency response: underwater searches, missing diver procedures, and surfacing unresponsive divers

  • First aid application at the surface and coordination with emergency services

  • Use of emergency oxygen equipment and rescue breathing

Who This Course Is For

Open to certified Advanced Open Water Divers (or equivalent) aged 12 and above. A valid Emergency First Response (EFR) or equivalent first aid and CPR certification — completed within the past 24 months — is required before the course begins. Medical fitness to dive must be confirmed.

Duration & Logistics

Typically completed over 2–3 days, combining knowledge development, confined-water rescue exercises, and open-water rescue scenarios off the Pondicherry coast. This certification is also a prerequisite for the Divemaster programme. Contact Proscuba for scheduling and pricing.
